Building Permit Information Building Inspector Todd Dolan 715-377-2152 The following items are required to obtain a building permit for new one and two family dwellings: (1) 1 Site plan and 1 certified survey map or deed (2) Building setbacks are generally 133 feet from the centerline of the road or 100 feet from the edge of the right of way, whichever is greater (3) Side yard setback is 20 feet (4) Rear yard setback is 25 feet (5) House plans (one set) must include electrical plan (6) Sanitary permit with house number (7) (8) State Building Permit 4-part form, intact, signed and filled out legibly, including contractor's names, license or certification numbers, address and phone numbers (9) Driveway permit (10) Soil Erosion form The following are the minimum inspections for one and two family dwellings in the Town of (1) Footing & Foundation inspection prior to backfilling (2) Prior to sheet-rocking and vapor barrier: a. Construction b. Electrical rough-in c. HVAC rough-in d. Plumbing rough-in (plumber to call when waste & vent is air or water tested.) (3) Final inspection prior to occupancy Contractors to schedule approximate inspections 48 hours prior to need of inspection. The 48 hour requirement is as per DILHR one & two family Building Code. To schedule inspections, call Notify the Digger’s Hotline 1-800-242-8511 three (3) days before digging is started. For your information the Town recommends that you contact an area garbage hauler to pick up your rubbish and your recyclable material. Finally, a copy of the well report must be sent to the Town, If the builder has completed all the afore mentioned steps and the Inspector has signed off on all matters, the Occupancy Permit will be issued and deposits refunded as appropriate.

Sign Permit Application
The town has had an ordinance to enforce the erection of signs since 1999. Recently the county enacted an ordinance regarding signs. Dog Licenses
DOG LICENSING IS AN ANNUAL REQUIREMENT Licensing your dog within the municipality that you live is a State Law. Licenses are valid from January 1st to December 31st and are not transferable. The deadline for renewing your dog's license is March 31st of each year. Renewal licenses processed after that date will be assessed at least twice the amount of the license fee. Proof of Rabies Vaccination must be presented. Puppies must be licensed following the first rabies shot. New dogs must be licensed immediately. If you no longer have a dog that has been previously licensed in the Town of St Joseph, please tell us so that we can update our records. Animals must be under control at all times. The Animal Control Officer may pick up an animal and the resulting fees for the shelter in addition to a town fine and actual incurred costs will be billed to the owner. More detail can be found in the Code of Ordinances Chapter 64.
