  •  Established in 2011, Companion Animal Control serves more than 24 cities/towns within Pierce County, WI, St. Croix County, WI and Washington County, MN.  Companion Animal Control responds to hundreds of calls each year to help animals, working closely with law enforcement to keep your community safe by responding to pick up stray animals, investigate concerns of cruelty/neglect, nuisance complaints and dog bites.

Animal Reclaiming Fees 

  • Additional Reclaiming fees are charged and will be due and payable to the Town of St. Joseph. The Town will invoice pet owners regarding the fees due.

  • Companion Animal Control / WWAS Fees
  • Reclaiming fees are charged and will be due and payable at the time of reclaiming.
  • Impound will require appointments for owners to reclaim animals.
  • Impound will require full payment of fees via cash or credit card (checks not accepted) prior to reclaim of animals by owners.
  • Please Read All fees from owners are due prior to reclaim/release of animal. If an owner fails to pay fees and pick up the animal prior to the end of a holding period, owner relinquishes all rights to animal.


Dog Licensing

WI State law requires all dogs to be licensed annually.  All dog licenses expire December 31st of the year they were issued.  A current "Proof of Rabies" vaccination from your veterinarian for each animal is required along with your fee for licensing. New residents and pet owners have a 30 day grace period to license your pets.   If you have questions you may call 715-549-6235 or send an email to: Clerk/Treasurer's Office

Fees:

  • January 1st through March 31st: $10 for altered animal and $20 for unaltered animal
  • April 1st through December 31st: $20 for altered animal and $40 for unaltered animal

Town of St. Joseph Kennel Licensing Requirements

Private Kennel Definition

Any person, partnership or corporation who or which is customarily the owner or custodian of more than three (3) dogs or six (6) cats over five months of age, who or which is not in the business of breeding, buying, selling, or boarding of dogs or cats,
must apply for a private kennel license.
All kennel licenses expire December 31st of the year they were issued.

Commercial Kennel Definition

Any person, partnership or corporation engaged in the business of breeding, buying, selling or boarding dogs or cats, provided that such person, partnership or corporation is customarily the owner or custodian of more than three(3)dogs or six (6) cats over five months of age,
 must apply for a commercial kennel license.
All kennel licenses expire December 31st of the year they were issued.
